Christian Danielsson, born in 1956, serves as the State Secretary to the Minister for EU Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden. He earned his Master of Science in Business and Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics in 1981.
His career in diplomacy and European administration includes roles such as the EU Affairs Adviser (Sherpa) to the Prime Minister and the Head of the European Commission Representation in Sweden from 2020 to 2022. Previously, he served as the Director-General of the European Commission Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations from 2015 to 2020, and before that, as the Director-General for Enlargement from 2013 to 2015. His earlier assignments include serving as Deputy Secretary-General of the European Commission from 2011 to 2013, Ambassador and Sweden’s Permanent Representative to the European Union from 2008 to 2010, and various other roles within the European Commission and Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs dating back to 1981.
