Ivo Walinga is a political advisor and researcher specializing in the politics of China, East Asia, and the Eurasian region more broadly. Previously, he served as a diplomat at the EU Delegation in Mongolia and advised Central Asian governments on energy, trade, and climate policy at the OSCE. Fluent in Mandarin, Ivo has conducted policy research in various Chinese cities and regions, including as a Yenching Scholar at Peking University, where he studied China’s evolving role in Asian security and trade. He also researched the regional dynamics and green transition of China, Japan, and South Korea as a Research Fellow at Asia House. Ivo holds advanced degrees from Oxford University, Peking University, and Sciences Po Paris, focusing on Chinese, Russian, international relations, and energy and climate policy.
