Lauri Hussar’s career in media began in 1998 when he worked as a reporter, editor, and news programme host for TV3. He rose to become the Head of News from 2004 to 2006. He then moved to Estonian Public Broadcasting, where he served as a presenter and host for Vikerraadio and ETV from 2006 to 2016. From 2016 to 2019, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper Postimees. Since 2019, Hussar has been working as a media trainer and consultant.
In addition to his media career, Hussar entered politics and joined the political party Estonia 200 in 2019, where he currently serves as the party’s chairman. He has also held significant positions in representative bodies, including being the Chairman of the Viimsi Rural Municipality Council from 2021 to 2023 and serving as the President of the Riigikogu (Estonian Parliament) since 2023.
Hussar is also known for his involvement in the re-founding of the Student Corporation Arminia Dorpatensis in 1994.
