Maria Luísa Moreira is an award-winning geopolitical analyst and founder of The Gender Diplomat, an academy and consultancy at the intersection of human security and foreign policy. In 2021, she received a national award from the Portuguese Ministry of Defence for her research on the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in defence policy, and was featured at the 2022 NATO Youth Summit in Brussels. Maria Luísa is a frequent public speaker, analyst and writer on global security issues, namely in leading broadcast media in Portugal, where she signs a bimonthly column entitled “Diplomatic Bag”. She has worked in public diplomacy, project management and strategic communication, and is currently a research consultant on a Google-funded project on the EU’s geopolitical role in the digital decade. Maria Luísa is a proud alumna of the London School of Economics (LSE) and the University of Essex, UK.
