Markéta Pekarová Adamová, is currently serving as the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies in the Parliament of the Czech Republic, a position she has held since November 2021. She is also the leader of the TOP 09 political party, affiliated with the European People’s Party (EPP), having been elected chair in 2019 and re-elected in 2021.
Adamová began her political career in 2009 when she joined TOP 09 and quickly rose through the ranks. She has been a Member of the Chamber of Deputies since 2013, securing re-election in 2017 and 2021. Her political experience includes serving as Vice-Chair of the Committee on Social Policy (2017-2021) and Chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights (2014-2017).
Before her national political career, Adamová was active in local government as a member of the Prague 8 Municipal Assembly (2010-2018) and the Prague 8 Municipal Council (2010-2014), where she also served as Councillor for Social Affairs and European Funds.
She holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Management in Industry from the Czech Technical University in Prague and a Bachelor’s degree in Andragogy and Personnel Management from Charles University in Prague.
Outside of her political work, Adamová has a strong commitment to volunteerism, having worked in orphanages in Armenia and Morocco and participated in environmental projects in Scotland.
