Stevo Pendarovski (born on 3 April 1963 in Skopje) is a politician who served as the 5th President of the Republic of North Macedonia, from 2019 to 2024.
He graduated in 1987 at the Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus”, University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius”, Skopje and obtained M.A. and Ph.D. from the Institute for Political, Legal and Sociological Research at the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” – Skopje.
In the period 1998 – 2001 he was the Head of Analytical and Research Department in the Ministry of Interior and Ministry’s spokesperson.
From 2001 to 2004 he was National Security Advisor of the President of the Republic of Macedonia. From 2004 to 2005 he was President of the State Election Commission. In the period 2005 to 2009 he was Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the Republic of Macedonia.
Pendarovski began teaching at the University American College in Skopje in 2008. Some of the teaching and research areas are: international relations, intelligence and national security, geopolitics, globalization, US foreign policy, EU foreign and security policy, small states in international relations and others.
From 2016 to 2017 he was Member of Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia.
From December 2017 till his election as a President in 2019 he was National Coordinator for preparation of the Republic of North Macedonia for NATO membership.
